Why pinyin on the sheet matters
In many heritage families one parent reads Chinese fluently and the other doesn't — and the child is somewhere in between. A pinyin label under every word lets everyone in the house pronounce the vocabulary, check the homework and drill the quiz, regardless of who is sitting at the table. It also anchors the character to its sound, which is how the word survives in the child's spoken vocabulary instead of becoming a shape they can copy but not say.
The generator resolves pinyin for any words you paste — not just pre-made lists — from a built-in index of over 11,000 common words, with per-character pronunciation as fallback. Tone marks (ā á ǎ à) are written correctly, including neutral tones.

Families using the Taiwan system can switch the pronunciation labels from pinyin to zhuyin (ㄅㄆㄇ, bopomofo) with one setting, and pair it with 繁體 Traditional mode for traditional stroke order and a traditional handwriting font. Labels on the quiz too
In the dictation-quiz template the pinyin becomes the prompt: the sheet prints pinyin plus the English meaning next to empty grids, and the child writes the characters from memory. An optional answer key prints at the bottom, so self-checking works even when no fluent reader is home.

Does the pinyin include tone marks?
Yes. Labels are written with proper tone marks (mā má mǎ ma), including neutral tones, for every word you paste — from a built-in index of 11,000+ common words.
Can I turn the pinyin off?
Yes. Set Pronunciation to Off for a clean characters-only sheet — useful for older children who should be reading the characters, not the romanization.
Can I get zhuyin (bopomofo) instead of pinyin?
Yes. Choose Zhuyin in the Pronunciation setting; pair it with 繁體 Traditional mode for traditional characters, traditional stroke order and ㄅㄆㄇ labels.
Does it add pinyin to any pasted text?
Yes. Paste a paragraph and it is segmented into whole words with pinyin resolved per word; anything outside the built-in index falls back to per-character pronunciation.
