Using 谢谢
谢 means “to thank”, and doubling it makes the everyday word 谢谢. It fits every situation a child meets: receiving a gift, being served food, getting help with a zipper. The standard reply is 不客气 — “you're welcome”.
In Traditional Chinese the word is 謝謝 — both halves take the speech-radical Traditional form 謝. In fluent speech the second syllable usually lightens to a neutral tone (“xiè xie”), but worksheets print the citation tone on both. To thank someone specific, add 你 or a title: 谢谢你，谢谢老师.
