Why numbers are the ideal first sheet
The ten number characters are a self-contained curriculum. 一, 二 and 三 teach the horizontal stroke and even spacing; 十 adds the vertical and the center line of the 田 grid; 四, 五, 六, 七, 八, 九 introduce boxes, hooks and the left/right falling strokes 撇 and 捺. A child who can write these ten has met nearly every basic stroke type — and can write their age, the date, and count the dumplings on their plate.
Beyond ten: 两, 百, 千, 万
Real counting needs a few more words: 两 (two of something, used with measure words), 零 (zero), 百 (hundred), 千 (thousand) and 万 (ten thousand). The built-in numbers word pack includes them with pinyin and English; load it from the word bank and trim to the ones your child needs. Note that 零 is a thirteen-stroke character — fine to recognize, but keep it off a five-year-old's writing sheet.
Make it a game, not a drill
Numbers worksheets pair naturally with counting games: trace a row, then count something real (chopsticks, crayons, grapes) and write the numeral-word next to the pile. End the week with the quiz template — the sheet shows the pinyin (yī, èr, sān…) and the child writes the characters from memory, checking against the printed answer key. Which characters are on the numbers worksheet?
一二三四五六七八九十 (1–10) are pre-loaded; the full numbers word pack adds 零 (zero), 两 (two of), 百 (hundred), 千 (thousand), 万 (ten thousand) and more, each with pinyin and English.
What is the difference between 二 and 两?
Both mean 'two'. 二 (èr) is used for counting, ordinals and numbers themselves (十二, twenty); 两 (liǎng) is used before measure words for quantities (两个苹果, two apples). The word pack includes both.
Can I make a quiz for numbers?
